CNC MILLERS & TURNERS (Day & Night Shift)

You will need to be skilled and have Fanuc or Heidenhain control experience and be able to work to a very high standard. We will also consider a setter/operator for either of these positions that would like to improve their skill level, or a college student who has studied engineering (NVQ or BTEC).

The Day Shift working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am until 4-30pm and Friday 8am until 1pm, with the Night Shift working hours being 6pm until 3-15am Monday to Thursday (both shifts 37 Hours) and with both shifts being able to work overtime. 

The rate of pay will depend on your skill level and experience in engineering.

ENGINEERING APPRENTICES

We are also seeking applicants to join our apprenticeship scheme, you will have a general aptitude towards engineering and be willing to learn. As well as working in the factory you will also go to college to earn your BTEC diploma in engineering. Newcom prides itself in being able to help young adults on their road to a successful career in precision engineering where they will learn the basic methods of manufacture.

Depending on your age and experience you will attend college for two days a week and start in our assembly area where you will learn how the machined items fit together as well as getting a good background knowledge for the type of engineering that we do here. While at college you will be shown how to operate the manual machines and then move on to use the CNC machines at college as well as Newcom, where most of our precision machined components are made. The apprenticeship will last about 3 years for the BTEC diploma, but if you are willing we are always keen for our apprentices to carry on and get a higher grade qualification, which will add another 2 years.

The working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am until 4-30pm and Friday 8am until 1pm (dependant on College days and times).

The rate of pay will be dependent on your age but will always be above the minimum living wage whilst doing your apprenticeship.
